David grappled with the challenge of shaping a garden he describes as being reminiscent of a dog bone – narrow in the middle and wider at both ends. The objective was to seamlessly connect the main house, pool house, and gym, while creating an entertainment space for the family, complete with outdoor kitchen.
Materials were chosen with care to complement the house's interior and exterior. Artisans of Devizes' Buscot Limestone, known for its durability and subtle finish, paired elegantly with the Siberian larch cladding. The clean lines of the paving were softened by well-placed plantings, accented with Belgian brick details for depth.
To introduce contrast, Millboard Enhanced Grain, Smoked Oak resin mineral composite decking was seamlessly integrated into the poolside seating area, adding warmth and character. Mendip grey chippings adorned the driveway for practicality and longevity.
The planting scheme played a crucial role in softening the landscape and adapting to varying light and wind conditions. A curated mix of herbaceous perennials, grasses, alpines, and creeping plants created a naturalistic, inviting atmosphere.
