These practical tips are designed to help you keep boards looking their best and make fitting smoother in colder conditions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Always follow the standard installation guide first (link here). Use the points below as extra cold weather considerations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1) Store and handle boards to prevent freezing<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Do not force boards apart<\/strong>&nbsp;if they have frozen together, as this can damage the surface layer.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To reduce the risk of boards sticking,\u00a0<strong>store packs somewhere that will not freeze<\/strong>, and where possible\u00a0<strong>lay boards out to acclimatize<\/strong>\u00a0before installation.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2) Take extra care with Durafix fixings<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In colder weather, the surface can be less forgiving.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When inserting&nbsp;<strong>Durafix fixings<\/strong>, work steadily and avoid rushing.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In low temperatures, the surface may&nbsp;<strong>not close over the screw head as easily<\/strong>, so take additional care to achieve a consistent finish.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3) Fixing into Plas-Pro: reduce board \u201cjack up\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because Plas-Pro is a denser material, you may notice the board lifting slightly during fixing. If this happens:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Drive the fixing in to roughly&nbsp;<strong>three quarters<\/strong>&nbsp;depth.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Back it out to roughly&nbsp;<strong>half<\/strong>&nbsp;depth.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Then drive it fully home to around&nbsp;<strong>5 mm below the surface<\/strong>&nbsp;of the Millboard board.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This approach can help reduce the jacking effect and improve the final finish.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4) Keep butt joints tight and consistent<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When butting boards together over a joist, ensure there is a&nbsp;<strong>1 mm gap at butt joints<\/strong>. This helps accommodate seasonal movement so any summer contraction does not leave an overly noticeable gap.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5) Curved edging and fascia: warm it first<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are fitting&nbsp;<strong>flexible edging and or fascia profiles<\/strong>&nbsp;on a curve, they perform best at around&nbsp;<strong>20\u00b0C<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep profiles&nbsp;<strong>indoors before fitting<\/strong>&nbsp;where possible.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Warming the material helps it sit more naturally and makes shaping easier.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6) Miters and PU wood glue: respect working temperatures<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are bonding miters with\u00a0<strong>PU wood glue<\/strong>, follow the temperature guidance on the adhesive.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on conditions, that may mean:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>warming the profiles and glue to the correct working range before bonding, or&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>bonding indoors and allowing the joint to fully cure before installing outside.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7) Frost, ice, and slip risk: safe removal methods<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like any exterior surface, boards can be slippery when frosted or icy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To help remove frost or ice, lightly spread&nbsp;<strong>white salt<\/strong>&nbsp;over the surface.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Do not use rock salt<\/strong>, as it can contain clay and grit that may contaminate the surface and act abrasively.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once winter has passed, clean with&nbsp;<strong>soapy water and a brush<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8) Snow removal: avoid metal edges<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use a&nbsp;<strong>stiff broom<\/strong>&nbsp;or a&nbsp;<strong>plastic snow shovel<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid metal shovels, or shovels with a metal edge, as these can damage the board surface.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>9) Plas-Pro subframe in cold weather: prevent splitting<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plas-Pro can become more brittle in low temperatures. If you are using it for the subframe:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In addition to the&nbsp;<strong>8 mm relief hole<\/strong>, drill a&nbsp;<strong>5 mm pilot hole<\/strong>&nbsp;when using&nbsp;<strong>6.3 x 90 mm hex head screws<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep fixings&nbsp;<strong>10 to 15 mm from the outer
